Project 3 Storyboard

Project 3 Precendent: Henry Moore

These are some images of select works by Henry Moore that served as inspiration to the third, final project. I took from them a sense of abstraction and an amorphic shape, as well as the organic nature of the sculptures. The precedent will serve as a rough guide to the shape and dynamics of the characters in the final project.

Project 2 Precedent - Lebbeus Woods

Lebbeus Woods' philosophy focuses on systems in crisis; Environments that challenge the status quo to the point that they disturb the common sense of normality. His works, primarily architectural (as he is an architect), serve as inspiration for the environment in which this animation will be set. The buildings will become decayed and forlorn, but in a way that seems to be normal, as if they were intentionally built that way. Below is an example of his work that inspired this project.

_project 1 concepts

Piccinini's works are designed to make a statement. They challenge our perception of human life and the natural world. The recurring theme in the artist's work is one of ethics and the changing face of our world in the hasty shadow of advancing technology. In-vitro fertilisation and genetic engineering are two examples of technologies which have permanently changed the way humans reproduce and evolve. People who would normally be sterile can have children and pass on their DNA and challenge Darwin's theory of natural selection. Her works reflect her own vision of this world. For this project, I have taken inspiration from the reproductive aspect of her work, and come up with my own challenge to our technological society. The image above is a conceptualisation of this idea.
